In 2010, a group of educators from eastern Wisconsin’s CESA 6 region began to ask an important question: If we could redesign schools for the 21st Century, what would they look like?
The Conversation
The question emerged from a conversation about the 'Wicked problems' facing education:
- alienation of students
- competition from private, alternative or online schools
- technological changes outpacing changes in teaching
- comfort and complacency with the current school system
- unsustainable financial model
A New Design for 21st Century Learning
Today that core group of leaders is teaming up with people like you – administrators, educators, parents and community members – to work to build the next generation of public schools in the CESA 6 region. Next Generation Schools will be built on:
- a new student learning experience
- a new model of innovative knowledge assessment, data and personalized planning
- new, collaborative learning structures
- a sustainable business model
Our goals:
- Create a new student learning experience by engaging students.
- Fund districts sustainably.
- Address the needs of students, families and businesses more adequately.
