Assessment

We all know that mastery is critical to student success. But how do you measure mastery? Tests? Quizzes?

In Next Generation schools, students will prove mastery in a variety of ways:

  • Electronic portfolios housing student work will be used to demonstrate a student’s ability to convert and apply knowledge to real-life situations.
  • Tests will be used to determine if students are ready to move on to the next level of education.
  • Credit for non-classroom learning will take education outside the school walls, giving students real-life experiences.

From Data Comes Opportunity

Students’ electronic portfolios, mastery tests and credits will be housed in a comprehensive data system. With this system, educators and learning coaches will be able to:

  • Link student learning needs and interests with opportunities.
  • Identify mastery, learning needs and gaps with more accuracy than ever.
  • Compare data to a set of international benchmarks, ensuring students have mastered the skills and knowledge needed to smoothly transition to the next level of learning.
